Here’s how you do it.
It’s all wrapped up in a quote by Brendon Burchard (my absolute favorite personal development writer).
There are two things that change your life: either something new comes into your life, or something new comes out of you.” – Brendon Burchard
This quote is from Brendon’s excellent book, The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive.
Let’s have a closer look at Brendon’s quote.
External Change
When Brendon talks about something new coming into our lives, he’s talking about external elements.
These things might be something like getting a new job, starting your own business, moving out of home or to a new city, getting married, meeting someone new, exercising and eating healthy, furthering your education, and the like.
Internal Change
The second part – something new comes out of you – is more about internal change.
This could mean changing the way you feel about yourself. You might improve your self-esteem and self-worth.
You might change your attitude or mindset. You might change your behavior or your habits.
Perhaps you change the way you view a particular problem. You might learn new coping skills or how to work through a difficult situation.
It could be admitting you need help and reaching out for assistance. It could be something as basic as you stop self-sabotaging.
To change your life for the better – something has to change.
To change your life you have to be prepared to DO SOMETHING.
You have to be willing to TAKE ACTION.
Whether it’s external or internal you need to take action for positive change. You have to be willing to change something (even if it’s just your attitude) for your life to change.

How to change your life for the better
All too often we complain about how terrible things are and how we wish things were different and yet we do nothing.
We just keep on complaining. We keep making excuses.
Instead of taking responsibility and taking action, we blame others for our situation.
It’s easier to complain than take action.
If we do nothing, we might end up complaining about the same situation for years, without taking any positive action to improve our lives.
Yes, change can be hard. Change often requires sacrifices (that’s generally the part we don’t like much!)
Change can take planning. It can take consistency to see our plan through to fruition.
But when our plan comes together, it’s wonderful. Magical even!
In Brendon’s book, change is one of the 5 forward drives that improve our lives. To learn more, make sure you grab a copy of Brendon’s book The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive.
To make change happen we need to believe in ourselves and in our ability to take action. We have to be willing to make a change. It’s not always easy but it’s always worth it. And so are you.
What changes do you want to implement in your life? How can you change your life for the better?
